“There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole”.

Sunset-Balm in Gilead

Singing in church has always been a huge part of my musical upbringing. One of my favorite memories is of a Sunday night service and Mr. Stan Hagstrom, a church member, singing “Balm in Gilead”. The melody is haunting and the lyrics begin with, “There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole, there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul.” I wasn’t quite sure what the song was about, but I could FEEL what it meant and the music spoke to my soul. I am so grateful music has always moved me in this way.

What are you grateful for? I’m truly grateful for a family that brought the love of music into my life. Music has always been at the center of my life and drifted through our house like the smell of warm cookies baking. My Mom was a pianist, singer and choir director and was pregnant with me when she was a voice major in college. I guess you can say it’s been with me since the womb!

I was so moved by the song “Balm in Gilead” that years later I sang my own special version and it’s on my album “Smooth Ride”. Music is something to be shared. In the spirit of gratitude and Thanksgiving, I want to share with you this balm for the soul, by giving you a free download of “Balm in Gilead”. I appreciate you!

Click my CD Baby page here and go to the song “Balm in Gilead”. It will be a free download now through Thanksgiving weekend. Please enjoy this gift from me and share it with your friends! Let’s share the music and love all around!
